The Author Speaks
Jesus' promise was fulfilled in Mary, and it will be fulfilled in each of us. Jesus said, “Where I am, there also will my servant be”. Where Jesus, her Son, is, Mary is there too. Her home is in Heaven. She was assumed into that home with her body and soul. Can we say that Mary was a handmaid of Jesus? Yes, we can. This is exactly how Mary perceived herself. At the moment of Jesus’ conception, she acknowledged herself as a handmaid of the Lord. She served the Good News, she served the Kingdom of God, she served her Son and his Church. What she did while on earth, Mary continues to do in heaven. As our Mother, she continues to intercede for us in heaven and watches over our steps with her motherly heart as we pass through this valley of tears. She is in Heaven, but not far from us. She is in Heaven and she is close to all our needs. She is in Heaven, but her motherly heart beats in each of us.
