One of the most beautiful definitions of prayer says: Prayer means being with God, in love. We Christians are sometimes criticised that our prayer is much too verbal, that we are in too much of a hurry, that we do not have time. That may be true. Jesus severely criticised prayer that remained only at the levelof words, which did not change life. He also criticised the prayer in which we only ask for something we need. He said that such prayer is pagan and cannot be answered.
Our prayer can be really godless, i.e. without God. This happens when we only ask God for what we need, and do not seek God Himself as He is.
Many Christians experience a crisis of prayer. They are convinced that they cannot pray or that they do not have time for it, but the truth is elsewhere. They try to solve their problems in all possible ways, and when they fail, they try with God. With such behaviour, we reduce God to “emergency help,” and as
soon as these needs disappear, we leave God aside and do not seek Him.
Therefore, it can be said that the real problem of prayer is our attitude towards God, which means, our faith.
