About This Book
Since June 1981, a small ordinary parish community has become the meeting point for millions of pilgrims. The name of the parish – Medjugorje – designates the parish itself and the spiritual movement, which is by now known and spread throughout the whole Christian world. All those who have heard something about Medjugorje know that, according to the testimony of six visionaries, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared at the place called Podbrdo, above the hamlet of Bijakovići. According to the testimony of the visionaries, the apparitions still continue.
You are holding in your hands a booklet, which contains the messages given by the Queen of Peace. From the very beginning, the messages were transmitted by Marija Pavlović (married name Lunetti), initially every Thursday, and since January 1987 on each 25th of the month. The words “Dear children…” with which all the messages begin, are addressed to the parishioners of Medjugorje and to the whole world.
The contents of the messages are very simple. There are neither orders, nor grudges, nor threats, nor intimidation. The messages contain no extraordinary or unknown things. They are simple, motherly encouragements, a motherly desire for her children not to get lost, not to forget whose children they are, and to keep in mind the words that she pronounced in Cana, “Do whatever He tells you!” (Jn 2:5)
The Blessed Virgin Mary modestly, perseveringly and lovingly teaches her children to live the Gospel and to follow Jesus Christ. She never speaks ‘from above’. She recommends a simple spiritual life: to read the Sacred Scriptures, to pray the Rosary, to venerate the Holy Cross, to adore the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, to go to Holy Mass regularly and faithfully, to pray in the family, to go for confession, to convert… All these elements lead to inner serenity and to peace. All those who have accepted Our Lady’s messages and who live them, undergo the experience of the impossible becoming possible in their personal life and in their life with others. This confirms the words of the Holy Scripture, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Mt 19:26)
Dear reader and Our Lady’s friend, we recommend this booklet to you. It contains neither a new revelation nor a new Gospel. It will lead you to Jesus Christ, and this is Our Lady’s desire and the reason for her coming to us.
