Fra Slavko Barbarić OFM, 1946-ban született Dragićini-ban, Međugorje közelében. 1971-ben pappá szentelték. Filozófiai és teológiai tanulmányait Szarajevóban és Schwaz-ban végezte, majd 1973-ban Grazban (Ausztria) diplomát kapott. 1982-ben Freiburgban (Németország) lelkipásztori teológiából doktori címet szerzett.
Međugorjéban 1982 januárjától a zarándokok szolgálatába állt, lelkigyakorlatokat és szemináriumokat vezetett. A međugorjei eseményekről világszerte tartott előadásokat. A međugorjei lelkiségről számos cikket és könyvet írt, amelyeket húsz nyelvre fordítottak le.
Slavko atya 2000. november 24-én, pénteken 15,30 órakor halt meg a Križevacon, miután befejezte a plébánia híveivel és a zarándokokkal a Keresztutat.
A könyvről
Különösnek tűnhet, mégis igaz: korunk az imádság kora. A mai ember mindig siet, mégis megáll imádkozni. Megáll, mert szükségét érzi annak, hogy Istennel beszélgessen, és mindazt elmondja neki, amit nem képes elmondani az embereknek, még a legbizalmasabb barátoknak sem. Tudja ugyanis, hogy Isten az ember legközelebbi és legbensőbb barátja. Ezért, kedves Olvasók, ha közel akartok kerülni az ember legjobb barátjához, Jézus Krisztushoz, és hozzá akartok tartozni, akkor ezzel a könyvvel kezdjétek. A könyv rendkívül egyszerű módon megtanít arra, hogyan kell imádkozni, ugyanakkor arra is, hogyan kell szeretni Istent és a felebarátot, amelyek nélkül az ima nem lehet gyümölcsöző.
Sok könyvet olvashatunk az imáról. Íme, egy könyv, amely önmagában is ima. Nem arról szól, hogyan kell imádkozni, hanem ezzel a könyvvel úgy imádkozhatunk, ahogyan minden keresztény hívőnek imádkoznia kellene. Szívtől szívig, lélektől lélekig. A nyomorult ember fájdalmas jajkiáltásától az Istenember irgalmas válaszáig.
A szerző gondolatai
E könyvecskéből megtudhatod, a Szűzanya arra hív téged, hogy imádkozz a kereszt és a Legszentebb Oltáriszentség előtt. Arra is meghív, hogy végezz jó szentgyónást, gondosan készülj fel a szentmisére, és utána adj hálát érte. Találsz majd olyan üzeneteket is, amelyek arra buzdítanak, hogy Szűz Mária által ajánld fel magadat Istennek. Istennek szentelni magunkat azt jelenti, mindennap döntünk a szeretet, a megbocsájtás, az irgalom mellett; a rossz és a bűn, a Sátán és minden műve, valamint a vele való együttműködés ellen.
Minden imát gyorsan elvégezhetünk úgy, hogy mindent elmondunk, de nem találkozunk Jézussal és Máriával. Ha így teszünk, fennáll annak a veszélye, hogy az ima ideje elveszetté és értelmetlenné lesz, és soha sem szeretjük meg az imát. Ezért nagyon fontos, hogy legyen időnk az imára.
