O autoru
Fra Slavko Barbarić, OFM, rođen 1946. u Dragićini u blizini Međugorja, svećenički je red primio 1971. Filozofiju i teologiju studirao je u Sarajevu i Schwazu, a 1973. magistrirao je u Grazu (Austrija). Doktorat iz pastoralne teologije postigao je 1982. u Freiburgu (Njemačka).
U siječnju 1982. počeo je raditi s hodočasnicima u Međugorju, gdje je vodio duhovne vježbe i seminare. Širom svijeta držao je predavanja o međugorskim događanjima. Autor je brojnih tekstova i knjiga o međugorskoj duhovnosti koji su prevedeni na dvadesetak jezika.
Fra Slavko je preminuo na Križevcu u petak, 24. studenoga 2000. u 15.30, po završetku molitve Križnoga puta sa župljanima i hodočasnicima.
O knjizi
Premda je neobično, istinito je: Naše je vrijeme molitveno vrijeme. Ljudi našega vremena, kojima se neprestano žuri, zaustavljaju se na molitvi, a zaustavljaju se zbog toga što osjećaju iskonsku potrebu da s Bogom razgovaraju, da Bogu kažu ono što nisu u stanju reći ljudima, pa ni najbližim prijateljima, i to zato što znaju da je Bog ipak najbliži i najbliskiji čovjekov prijatelj. Stoga, dragi čitatelji, ako želite biti bliski i bliži najvećemu čovjekovu prijatelju Isusu Kristu, onda se zaustavite nad ovom knjigom. Ona će vas na vrlo jednostavan način naučiti kako treba moliti i kako u isti mah ljubiti Boga i bližnjega, bez čije ljubavi ni molitva ne može biti plodotvorna.
Često smo čitali razne knjige o molitvi. Evo, napokon, knjige koja je sama po sebi molitva. U ovoj se knjizi ne govori kako treba moliti, nego se u njoj moli onako, kako bi svaki kršćanski vjernik trebao moliti. Od srca srcu. Od duše duši. Od bolna vapaja bijednoga čovjeka do milosrdna odaziva Bogočovjeka.

Iz ove ćeš knjižice saznati da te Gospa zove na molitvu pred križem i na molitvu pred Presvetim oltarskim sakramentom. Poziva te, također, da se dobro ispovjediš, da se lijepo pripremiš za svetu misu i da zahvališ iza nje. Naći ćeš poruke koje te potiču da se posvetiš Bogu kroz molitve Blaženoj Djevici Mariji. Posvetiti se Bogu znači odlučiti se svaki dan za ljubav, za praštanje, za milosrđe, a protiv zla i grijeha, protiv Sotone i svih djela njegovih, te protiv svake suradnje s njim.
Svaka se molitva može obaviti na brzinu, tako da izmolimo sve, a ne susretnemo ni Isusa ni Mariju. Ako tako činimo, prijeti nam opasnost da nam to postane izgubljeno i besmisleno vrijeme, pa da nikad ne zavolimo molitvu. Stoga je važno imati vremena za molitvu.
